Overnight showers possible as low pressure brings first rains in over a month

Cloudy skies and a deep marine layer loomed over Southern California on Tuesday, as a weak low pressure system finally brings relief from the anomalous heat that had gripped the region for the entirety of March.
Precipitation from this storm is expected to be light, and more concentrated over mountain and foothill areas. At the time of this writing, WeatherCurrents stations in Pinon Hills, Riverside (Canyon Crest) and Simi Valley had recorded measurable precipitation. Totals are forecast to reach no more than 0.10 inches across the valleys and coasts through Wednesday, while up to 0.25 inches is possible in the mountains. Snow levels will hover around 7000-7500 feet above sea level Wednesday morning, as the storm quickly departs the region to the east. Cool temperatures, about 3-5 degrees below average for this time of year, will continue through Thursday before offshore flow develops for Friday and Saturday.

Record-breaking March heat wave will peak Thursday-Friday

As an unusually intense area of high pressure sits over the Western U.S., temperatures as much as 30 degrees above-average and nearing the 100 degree mark this week continue to scorch much of Southern California.
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the counties of San Diego, western Riverside, southwestern San Bernardino, Orange, and coastal Los Angeles through 8 PM Friday. In addition, an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 8 PM Saturday for the deserts, as well as interior Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The National Weather Service recommends individuals to drink plenty of water, and take frequent breaks if you must be outdoors. Reduce outdoor activities, especially during afternoon hours; Check on friends, family, and neighbors without A/C. Heat risk remains widespread moderate across the region, along with areas of major heat risk, through Friday.

Major heat spell to bring potential record heat to region

Strong high pressure, in addition to weak offshore flow, is slated to bringing well above-average temperatures to the region Thursday and Friday, and again next week - with many inland locations expected to approach or even exceed their previous all-time record high temperatures for the month of March.
In what has been a common theme across Southern California during the course of the 2025-2026 wet season, the region will experience yet another period of prolonged above-average temperatures and dry conditions, however this upcoming event may rival all-time records for the month of March. High temperatures forecasted for inland valley communities range from the mid-to-upper 90s for Thursday and Friday, while coastal areas are expected to see highs in the lower-to-mid 80s during this period. Desert communities such as Indio and Thermal may experience record-setting early triple-digit temperatures, if forecasts verify. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from 10 ...

Santa Ana Winds winds batter region for third day in a row

Low pressure over the lower Colorado River Valley is bringing gusty Santa Ana Winds to the region, with Saturday marking the third consecutive day of our windy weather.
These offshore winds are occurring across the mountains and inland valleys, with gusts ranging in the valleys from 20 to 40 miles per hour. Santa Ana Winds will weaken on Sunday. The same low pressure system responsible for our current windy weather will move south into northern Mexico on Sunday, bringing a slight chance of light rain across San Diego County (mainly in the foothills and mountains) late Sunday into Monday morning. Rain chances west of the mountains in Riverside and San Bernardino counties are very low. Following a dip in temperatures Monday and Tuesday, high pressure will build over the region throughout the remainder of the week, bringing much warmer and drier weather with it. High temperatures across the inland valleys may reach the low 90s on Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures soar Friday as winter heat spell peaks

Strong high pressure aloft has brought a week of well above-normal temperatures across the region, with high temperatures peaking Friday afternoon.
Amid a week of warm, sunny and dry weather with highs in the 80s across the inland valleys, many communities reached or exceeded 90 degrees on Friday. In the WeatherCurrents network, Lake Elsinore reached the highest temperature on Friday with 96 degrees recorded there. This was the highest temperature recorded at WeatherCurrents' Lake Elsinore station since operations began there in 2005 (the previous record was 92 degrees in February 2025). In Murrieta, our WeatherCurrents station recorded a high of 92 degrees on Friday, also setting a record for the location (operations began there in 2003). Most other WeatherCurrents stations also recorded similarly warm temperatures Friday afternoon, mainly in the upper 80s/low 90s. In addition, the National Weather Service reported a number of record high temperatures broken across southwestern ...
