Posted April 20, 2007, 7:41 AM.

A late-season April storm due Friday morning, April 20th, with predictions of up to a half of an inch of rain, might be the wettest of the season in Western Riverside and Northern San Diego counties.

In what will likely be the worst rain season in a decade, Temecula's best is a mere 0.36" on February 19th, 2007. A summer thunderstorm left 0.46" of rainfall on the ground on July 22nd, 2006. The season total before Friday's storm was a mere 3.12".

Hemet had the wettest thunderstorm last summer, 0.85" on September 6th, 2006.

Fallbrook had the highest season total Friday morning at 5.25". A wet day of 0.81" on January 30th is the most rainfall recorded there this season, and likely more than will fall Friday.

Murrieta's wettest day of the season to date was 0.37" on December 9th, 2006. The pre-storm season total was only 2.34".

Riverside's season total of 1.73" was the lowest of the eight WeatherCurrents stations going into Friday, followed closely by Lake Elsinore at 1.84".

The National Weather Service was forecasting light showers early Friday morning, then moderate rain later in the morning. Thunderstorms should enter the mix later this afternoon, when the rain turns to showers.
