Across the WeatherCurrents network, as well as wider Southern California in general - low temperatures early Sunday morning were broken as many locations recorded their all-time "warmest" low temperatures.

The region has been subject to extreme heat, which had even extended all the way to the beaches on several days so far, as well as elevated humidity and dew points associated with monsoonal moisture and remnants of former Tropical Storm Javier southeast of San Diego. Hot temperatures throughout the region on Saturday had largely failed to recover overnight, especially near the coasts, resulting in excessively warm temperatures extending into Sunday morning nearly everywhere. WeatherCurrents' station in Fallbrook - normally one of the milder stations in the network given its elevation and proximity to the coast - recorded a toasty low temperature of 83 degrees Sunday morning, the warmest in the entire WeatherCurrents network. In Temecula, where temperature records date back to 1999, Sunday's low temperature of 79 degrees at that location was its all-time warmest low temperature on record - surpassing the previous warmest low temperature of 78 degrees there in July 2018. Other WeatherCurrents stations recorded similar warm low temperatures, mostly between 78 and 80 degrees.

Very warm nights are expected to continue this week amid the current heat wave, although not quite as warm as Sunday morning. Isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains and north of San Diego County, remain a factor through at least Wednesday.
