A warm storm system with moist southwest flow has made for a gloomy, damp start to the weekend across the region, however preliminary storm totals have not been high.

Since Friday afternoon, precipitation totals have been mostly under 1/3 inch across the WeatherCurrents network. Despite abundant available moisture, the lack of any strong lifting mechanism has prevented the region from seeing any heavy rain. The warm nature of the storm has kept snow levels rather high, above 8000 feet. Snow levels are expected to drop to around 6500 feet late Sunday night as a trough moves through the region. For Friday, precipitation totals of 0.07 inches were reported by contributors from Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington) and East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas). More moderate, widespread rain is predicted for Sunday afternoon.
