Leftover moisture from Kay's remnant low off Southern California's coast is facing enhancement due to daytime heating over inland areas Sunday and Monday.

Outside of the mountains and deserts, potential rain that was previously slated for Saturday had mostly failed to materialize under thick cloud cover and limited instability. Less extensive cloud cover on Sunday, however, has allowed for warmer temperatures and added thunderstorm potential. Coastal mountain slopes and high deserts have seen thunderstorm development Sunday afternoon, some of which is spilling over into inland areas. As of 2 PM Sunday afternoon, only Temecula had recorded any measurable precipitation in the WeatherCurrents network, with a total of .03 inches. Thunderstorm chances are predicted to continue through Monday, although being more confined to the mountains as moisture dries out. Slightly cooler-than-average temperatures are forecast to take hold later in the week under onshore flow.
