Across Southern California, November 2022 was sharply cooler than October and in many locations, November was the only cooler-than-average month of the year to date. November also featured a significant early-season storm for the region. Light rain is in the forecast for the first couple days of December as well.

At WeatherCurrents' longest-running station, in Temecula - November 2022 was the coolest such month since 2004 and third-coolest November overall (records for the station date back to 1999). November represented a large drop in average temperatures compared to October, with most WeatherCurrents stations observing a drop of between 11 and 14 degrees between the two months - compared to a more typical drop of seven or eight degrees from October to November. Monthly averages for November were roughly three-to-five degrees below normal for the month. Outside of the major storm early in the month, the rest of November was mostly dry, but dominated by alternating bouts of onshore and offshore flow. The offshore flow events were not very warm as they typically are for Autumn.

A low pressure system approaching Southern California this week has brought increased cloud cover, cooler daytime temperatures and chances for light precipitation Thursday and early Friday. The greatest chances for rain exist for Los Angeles County and northwards, with the rest of Southern California ending up on the drier side of the storm, while San Diego and Imperial counties are almost completely dry. Small chances of precipitation are also possible intermittently on Saturday as low pressure moves eastward over the region. Strong winds are possible in the mountains and deserts. Cool, generally dry weather is expected into early next week.
