The first official storm of winter arrived just after the solstice, and led to moderate rainfall the Monday before Christmas.
Rain began late Monday morning, and continued off and on into the evening, with the heaviest amounts falling in the late morning, and in the early evening.
Totals from the storm in Riverside and San Diego County's inland valleys ranged from 0.02" in San Jacinto, to a more substantial 0.45" in Fallbrook.
Other significant totals were recorded in the western valleys, with 0.42" in De Luz, 0.37" in Lake Elsinore, 0.27" in Wildomar, 0.25" in Murrieta and 0.24" in Temecula.
The eastern valleys fared the worst, with 0.08" in Moreno Valley, 0.06" in both Menifee and Perris, and 0.04" in both Riverside and Hemet.
A second, stronger storm arrived Christmas Eve and continued through Christmas Day, and is the subject of another news item.
