The very wet month of December resulted in many WeatherCurrents locations being above their season averages.
And, of course, we're not done yet. January and February are typically the wettest months of the year, and significant rainfall can sometimes last through April.
And the first storm of 2011 is on the way Sunday night, with predictions of between a quarter and a half of an inch of rainfall, mostly coming tonight and tomorrow morning. The first wave of the storm was expected to arrive by 5pm Sunday evening. Showers were predicted through early Tuesday morning.
By the end of December, De Luz, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Riverside, San Jacinto and Temecula had already exceeded their entire season averages, and nearly all of the other location were close to theirs.
The strong pre-Christmas storm was credited with the outsized rainfall totals, although rain had started back in October.
Rainfall was running two to four times the normal to date.
