Rolling through; another day of thunderstorms

Posted July 6, 2011, 7:08 PM.

Lightning and thunder were on display Wednesday afternoon as another thunderstorm series rolled through Southern California's inland valleys.

Of WeatherCurrents' 14 stations in the area, only Perris had measurable rainfall, recording 0.09". More thunder, lightning and rain was possible through the evening hours.

"The sky was dark, the wind blew some big gusts and thunder and lightning was like an old fashioned storm," said Katy Parkhurst, who hosts WeatherCurrents' Menifee station. "After all that, would you believe there was no rain?"

Up in Beaumont, it was more of the same. "We are surrounded by rain, lightning and thunder," reported Rick Leonard. And, "no measurable rain here in southwest Beaumont."

Following today, a low pressure trough is predicted to begin to cut off the monsoonal moisture flow. The humid weather we're experiencing in Southern California should be a memory by the weekend.
