A cutoff low brought isolated showers to the region on Friday, however the storm underperformed and many communities did not record any rainfall at all.
The cutoff low was the second consecutive one to arrive from Baja California, resulting in warmer than average temperatures, however moisture was lacking. The lower atmospheric levels were too dry for rain to reach the ground on Thursday and most of Friday. Rainfall was originally predicted to not be much for the region, with one fifth or less predicted for most inland locations.
Where rain did fall on Friday, amounts were mostly under one tenth of an inch. Exceptions to this were Anza and Hemet to the east. One wave of light rainfall quickly swept across inland Southern California during Friday evening, however at some locations this was still not enough to measure. Some locations in the western Los Angeles Basin reported microbursts.
The weather remained mild and mostly cloudy Saturday, but is expected to dry out and warm up next week. Rain is currently not in the forecast.
