Patchy drizzle Tuesday morning as low pressure brings an end to heat spell

By Reginald Stanley. Posted April 13, 2021, 6:51 PM.

A warm dry spell that had taken hold of the region since late March was finally put to an end Monday as low pressure over the Great Basin brought gloomy weather, cool temperatures, a deep marine layer and patchy drizzle Tuesday.

While the majority of communities failed to record any measurable precipitation as of Tuesday evening, WeatherCurrents stations in Moreno Valley and Riverside (Orangecrest) both recorded small amounts of 0.03 and 0.02 inches, respectively. In East Highland, a higher total of 0.12 inches had been reported as of Tuesday afternoon (courtesy of Peter Michas), while 0.04 inches was reported in nearby Yucaipa (courtesy of Don Kramer). Trace amounts of precipitation, while not measurable, were observed in Murrieta and Temecula. Small chances of precipitation remained possible through Wednesday morning west of the mountains, particularly along the coastal mountain slopes.

Drier, warmer weather is forecast to return to the region beginning Thursday and into the weekend. Another trough could impact the region around the middle of next week, although confidence at this time remains low for that period.
