By Reginald Stanley. Posted July 30, 2022, 3:07 PM.An influx of monsoonal moisture and associated instability over the region has led to increased chances of thunderstorms inland Saturday and Sunday. Thunderstorm chances are highest in the mountains and deserts, peaking in the afternoon. The National Weather Service warns that some thunderstorms could drift westward over the inland valleys this weekend, with small chances of the moisture even reaching coastal areas. For Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for the mountains, parts of the deserts and inland valleys through 11 PM Saturday. Localized flash flooding may occur in and near the mountains. Thunderstorm chances decreased from Monday onward, becoming more confined to the mountains only and eventually disappearing altogether as drier conditions take hold next week. Temperatures are expected to hover near average at that time. |
