A Pacific storm brought widespread rain to the region Thursday and early Friday, with the bulk of the precipitation falling on Thursday.
Storm totals were between 1 and 2 inches of rain across portions of the inland valleys, while lower amounts between 0.5 and 1 inch fell in the eastern valleys. WeatherCurrents' station in Fallbrook was a notable exception with 2.43 inches, reflecting the more south-favored precipitation distribution pattern that accompanied the storm. Riverside (Orangecrest) recorded the lowest total in the WeatherCurrents network, with 0.51 inches. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 1.71 inches was reported through February 3rd (courtesy of Jim Sappington). The storm was originally forecast to feature more post-frontal showers behind the main rain band that moved through the region on Thursday, however these residual showers largely failed to materialize inland. The region experienced some isolated shower activity Friday morning, followed by cool and mostly cloudy skies. Unsettled weather was expected to continue into Saturday but remaining mostly dry until the next storm arrives on Sunday.
Here are the rain totals for the WeatherCurrents network and associates:
