Photos and Webcam Video From Last Wednesday's Severe Storm (updated)

The following are a some of the pictures from last Wednesday's thunder and dust storms in western Riverside County. The affected areas were the San Jacinto, Menifee, Perris and Temecula valleys.

In Hemet, up to 1.75" of rainfall was recorded in spots. WeatherCurrents' Hemet station, located in Valle Vista, recorded 0.85". Flash flooding was reported in many areas.

In south Temecula, wind gusts of at least 49mph accompanied a dust storm through the area. Wind in the Temecula Valley wine country was estimated at 70mph. Thunder and lightning followed. WeatherCurrents' Temecula station in south Temecula recorded 0.22" of rain. Spots further east recorded more than an inch of rainfall (1.62" one and a half miles east of the Temecula weather station).

The rainfall was highly localized; no other WeatherCurrents station reported any. The worst affected areas were in the San Jacinto Valley and in the eastern part of Temecula.

The Wilson Creek and Longshadow Ranch wineries in the Temecula Valley wine country reported damage from the storm. Total damage to both wineries has been estimated at $20,000.

A shortlived landspout was spotted just north of Sun City, which helped snarl traffic on Interstate 215 near between Newport Road and Highway 74 in both directions. A dust storm and gusty winds
