Widespread showers inland Monday morning, afternoon thunderstorms possible

By Reginald Stanley. Posted July 26, 2021, 7:04 AM.

A surge of monsoonal moisture into the region early this week has brought showers to inland areas beginning late Sunday, and continuing into Monday. All active WeatherCurrents stations, except Simi Valley, have recorded measurable precipitation as of 7 AM Monday morning.

Preliminary totals are currently between 0.10 and a third of an inch of rainfall so far, although rain is ongoing at the time of this writing. Rainfall predictions were initially suggesting between 0.1 and 0.2 inches for the inland valleys, however in many cases these predictions have already been exceeded. WeatherCurrents' station in Anza currently holds the highest total with over 0.80 inches already. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for all inland areas of San Bernardino and Riverside counties, as well as a Flood Advisory for most of San Diego County and the Riverside County mountains. Morning showers are forecast to transition into a chance of thunderstorms inland Monday afternoon, with especially high chances in the mountains and deserts.
