Tropical Cyclone Java's remnants bring clouds, sporadic light showers to region

By Reginald Stanley. Posted September 10, 2023, 10:14 PM.

Remnant moisture from Tropical Cyclone Java brought cloudiness, higher humidities and spotty light showers to parts of the region Sunday morning, and is forecast to continue moving over the region Sunday night through Monday.

Measurable precipitation was recorded at seven WeatherCurrents stations Sunday, mostly occurring in the morning. Where rain did fall, precipitation was light. Pinon Hills recorded the highest amount with 0.04 inches. Following clearer skies Sunday evening, clouds are scheduled to return Monday as an additional, weaker wave of precipitation moves through the region. Rain is expected to be light once again, with rain chances even lower than on Sunday. Measurable precipitation is expected to be confined to the mountains. The lack of instability associated with Java's remnants reduces any chances of thunderstorms to near-zero. High clouds will limit daytime heating as well.

Gradual cooling is forecast throughout the week as a weak upper-level trough lingers near the West Coast, along with a deepening marine layer later in the week.
