Another cut-off low resulted in showers for the region on Saturday. This storm was a cold one, however, snow levels did not fall down to the anticipated elevation of 3,000 feet above sea level. Snow levels remained above 4,500 feet instead.
Like most storms this Fall, rainfall amounts were not very high in most locations, generally staying under 1/2 of an inch. One notable exception to this rule was in East Highland, where 0.59" was recorded (courtesy of Peter Michas). Another high total of 0.44" was recorded in Central Murrieta (courtesy of Michael Mojarro). Out of the nineteen WeatherCurrents stations, Jurupa Valley recorded the highest total with 0.39". As is typical of cutoff lows, rainfall was not uniform. Normally drier locations such as Riverside and Jurupa Valley received decent precipitation amounts, while the typically wettest locations like De Luz and Fallbrook varied. The eastern valleys were generally on the drier side of the storm. Hemet, San Jacinto, Perris and Menifee all recorded rather low amounts.
Anza was the only WeatherCurrents station to not receive any measurable rainfall. Anza typically receives more rainfall from summer thunderstorms than winter storms.
Other rain totals include 0.24" in Southeast Wildomar, 0.19" in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington), 0.09" in Southeast Temecula (courtesy of Jim Purpura), and 0.08" in East San Jacinto (courtesy of Monty Parrott).
Temperatures were forecast to gradually climb through the week, although stay cool for this time of year.
