Posted August 31, 2017, 2:42 PM.A particularly severe cluster of thunderstorms has drifted into southwestern Riverside County on Thursday afternoon, causing widespread heavy rain, hail, thunder, lightning, and street flooding there. The affected areas are Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, Murrieta, Canyon Lake, Menifee, Hemet-San Jacinto, and southern Perris. Most WeatherCurrents stations in these communities have reported rainfall this afternoon, with Wildomar leading with 0.37 inches and rising. Hemet was not far behind with 0.29 inches. High rainfall rates have been reported. Rain has also been reported in east Highland by contributor Peter Michas (0.16 inches). Winds up to 60 mph are possible. The thunderstorms and associated humidity plummeted temperatures nearly 30 degrees in less than twenty minutes in these locations. The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Flood Advisory for southwestern Riverside County through 330 PM PDT. |
