By Reginald Stanley. Posted December 7, 2017, 8:40 PM.A severe episode of Santa Ana Winds fueled a wildfire in Murrieta on Thursday, which officials have dubbed the Liberty Fire. The fire erupted in dry brush near Los Alamos Road and Liberty Road sometime around 1PM Thursday, quickly spreading to surrounding properties and hillsides. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, at least one structure and one outbuilding have been destroyed. As of 8:07 PM, the Murrieta Fire Department reported the fire at 300 acres and 10 percent contained. Mandatory evacuations were ordered for all residents in the immediate vicinity of the fire. Residents east of Whitewood Road and south of Los Alamos Road, as well as housing developments at the west end of Hunter Road west of French Valley Airport and Winchester Road were under mandatory evacuation Thursday evening.
