Posted February 21, 2019, 5:44 PM.Doppler radar images Thursday afternoon indicated the presence of rain and snow showers falling over the Santa Ana Mountains, eastern Orange County and parts of western Riverside County late Thursday afternoon, amid plummeting temperatures and gusty winds. Reports of rain mixed with snow have come from Murrieta, Wildomar, and Lake Elsinore around 4 PM PDT, as well as East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas) Thursday morning. The National Weather Service office in San Diego released a Special Weather Statement for Orange County, the Santa Ana Mountains and the Inland Empire Thursday afternoon, advising the potential for very low snow levels down to around 800 feet above sea level in isolated areas. The bursts of snow are also causing travel problems in the Santa Ana Mountains and foothills. This activity is forecast to continue until roughly 6 PM PDT. |
