A warm Pacific storm brought more rain to the region Saturday and early Sunday, signaling a return to a wetter weather pattern over Southern California.
Rain arrived early Saturday morning, and continued steadily throughout the day well into the afternoon, before tapering off to showers overnight. Snow levels remained above 7,000 feet Saturday. Precipitation totals varied a bit, ranging from 0.24 inches in Pinon Hills to 1.26 inches in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas). Other high totals were observed in Simi Valley with 1.16 inches, as well as both Moreno Valley and De Luz with 1.06 inches. Most WeatherCurrents stations received between 1/3 and 3/4 of an inch. Some normally drier locations, such as Riverside (Presidential Park) and Moreno Valley, received more rain than usual. Other submitted totals included 0.79 inches in Yucaipa (courtesy of Don Kramer) and 0.60 inches in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington).
Most precipitation had left the region by midnight Sunday, with residual moisture clinging to the mountains. Several additional storms are predicted to impact the region beginning Wednesday, with high potential for lower snow levels (around 6,500 feet above sea level) heading into Friday.
