By Reginald Stanley. Posted January 9, 2020, 3:36 PM.A weak low pressure system passing through the region has brought areas of light showers and gusty winds Thursday, as well as minor convection in parts of the Inland Empire during the afternoon. Light showers were reported in parts of the Inland Empire as early as Thursday morning, however more significant activity - where it did occur - did not develop until the afternoon. Unstable weather has allowed convection to develop over Moreno Valley and Perris, resulting in larger accumulations of precipitation there. Other parts of the eastern valleys, as well as foothill communities, also had measurable rainfall as of Thursday afternoon. Moreno Valley and Perris led totals with 0.20 inches and 0.19 inches, respectively. Strong west to northwest gusts had also developed over most of the region, particularly the mountains and deserts. The system is expected to clear out of the region by Thursday night, leaving drying northwest winds into Friday. |
