By Reginald Stanley. Posted January 18, 2021, 7:42 PM.The warm, windy, dry pattern that has dominated Southern California so far this January is about to change to a more seasonably cool, somewhat wet weather pattern this week. Strengthening Santa Ana Winds tonight are the result of low pressure digging into the region, which will bring a slight chance of light showers late Tuesday into early Thursday. Another low pressure system from the northwest is expected to bring even colder temperatures to the region over the weekend, with additional chance of showers. At this time, precipitation from both systems is expected to be light, if any falls at all. Precipitation looks to possibly be more widespread during the second low pressure system's transit over the weekend. Monthly temperature averages for January 2021 up through the 17th have been running several degrees warmer than average across inland Southern California. Seasonal rainfall-to-date has remained stagnant since late December, with the rainfall deficit increasing significantly as of mid-January. |
