Excessive Heat Warning in effect through late Friday inland

By Reginald Stanley. Posted June 14, 2021, 4:47 PM.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for all of inland Southern California, including the mountains and deserts, from 10 AM Tuesday morning through 9 PM Friday.

A strong early-summer heat wave will affect the region this week, peaking around mid-week. Widespread triple-digit temperatures are predicted and have already been observed Monday afternoon throughout Southern California, with only the immediate coasts remaining mild. High temperatures near 110 degrees are expected throughout the Inland Empire on Tuesday and Wednesday. The excessive heat warning comes amid dangerously hot conditions expected this week. The National Weather Service warns people to limit outdoor activities, drink plenty of water, check in on relatives and neighbors and to not leave children and pets unattended in vehicles.

The strong ridge of high pressure responsible for the heat wave is expected to weaken over the region early next week, allowing for cooling inland.
