By Reginald Stanley. Posted January 12, 2023, 4:02 PM.WeatherCurrents would like to take a moment to honor a former long-time contributor, Peter Michas, who sadly recently passed away on January 4, 2023, according to sources close to him whom informed us via email. Peter Michas sent in his weather observations and storm totals from East Highland to WeatherCurrents on a regular basis since November 2012. Peter lived at a particularly unique location, in the upper slopes of East Highland close to the San Bernardino Mountains, often resulting in some of the highest storm totals in the WeatherCurrents network out of a large amount of storms due to orographic effects. Peter last sent his storm totals to us on January 3rd, which were included in the storm totals story for that event. According to a close source, Peter's passing was unexpected, but peaceful. Peter's absence will leave a large and noticeable void in the lives of all those who knew him as well as us here at the WeatherCurrents network, and its readers who had become used to seeing Peter Michas appear frequently in storm totals stories and reports. Peter was born on December 8, 1944 and was aged 78 at the time of his passing. We would also like to thank contributor Don Kramer of Yucaipa, a close friend of Peter for over 40 years who informed us of Peter's passing. We give our kindest and most sincere condolences to all those who were close to Peter. |
