A weak, but cold winter storm brought scattered showers and mountain snow to the region Sunday and Monday, along with relatively low snow levels around 3000 feet in some areas.
Intermittent showers occurred over most inland areas of Southern California throughout Sunday and Monday, alongside chilly daytime temperatures. Moisture from the storm cleared out of the region earlier than expected Monday evening, as opposed to continuing into Tuesday morning as NWS forecasts had previously called for. Mostly clear skies and chilly nights remained. Storm totals varied but were generally not very high. Anza recorded the highest total in the WeatherCurrents network, with a total of 0.54 inches, followed by 0.47 inches in South Fallbrook. A total of 0.42 inches was reported in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington). Storm totals drop off precipitously after that, with 0.34 inches in southern Temecula and dropping further all the way to no measurable precipitation at all in Pinon Hills. Totals for WeatherCurrents stations in Perris, Moreno Valley and Riverside all continued to be discounted until repairs are made at the rain gauges there.
