A strong Santa Ana wind event is predicted to bring gusty winds to the inland valleys through Tuesday morning. Surface high pressure over the Great Basin coupled with local high pressure is fueling the winds, which began this afternoon in the area.
Gusts of up to 34 mph were reported in Riverside Sunday afternoon, 25 mph in Sun City and Lake Elsinore, 20 mph in De Luz and Fallbrook and 19 mph in Murrieta. South Temecula and Eastern Hemet remained largely unaffected, although wind gusts were increasing Sunday night.
Mountain passes and canyons may have wind gusts up to 70mph tonight and tomorrow morning. Sustained winds may be between 25 and 35 mph in some areas. |
