Records Fall Under More Triple Digit Temperatures Monday

Posted April 21, 2009, 7:47 AM.

An April Heat wave produced its hottest temperatures yet in inland communities Monday.

Once again, Riverside led the way among WeatherCurrents stations, with a high of 103.2°F. Temecula recorded 100.9°F, and Fallbrook registered 99.9°F. Lake Elsinore followed with 99.3°F.

In Temecula, it was the hottest April day since a smoking 101.5°F on April 26th, 2004.

For Riverside, Monday was the second consecutive triple-digit day, and the hottest April day recorded at a WeatherCurrents location, breaking the previously mentioned record of 101.5°F registered in Temecula on April 26th, 2004.

A couple of fires punctuated the day Monday, a small brush fire in Wildomar in the afternoon, and a larger wildfire on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base. Smoke from the Camp Pendleton fire traveled into Fallbrook, Temecula, Murrieta and De Luz.

As high pressure wanes Tuesday, most areas were predicted to register highs in the middle to upper 90's. The heat wave should be a memory by Thursday, when a low pressure system brings some clouds and afternoon temperatures more than twenty degrees below the recent heat.
