We're awaiting confirmation, but we believe WeatherCurrents' Perris site has under reported rainfall for Monday's storm.
Perris was reading 0.21" for the storm late Monday afternoon. We believe the actual rainfall at the weather site was 0.80" or higher.
Rain gauges often get bird poop and other debris in them, and that can cause a slow drip, like has happened at Perris on Monday, or a complete stoppage.
When a gauge is clogged, we'll either funnel the rain back in, if possible, or use a reading from a nearby site if that isn't practical.
We hope to have Perris operating again soon. |
