"[The fire] knocked out our power about 2:00 p.m," said Mark Monroe, the volunteer for the French Valley location. "We are back up and running [as of 4pm]. The three acre fire is now contained." According to the Riverside Country Fire Department, 95 firefighters, a helicopter, and two air tankers worked to successfully contain the fire, which occurred on a mild summer day. The fire was near the intersection of Thompson Road and Washington Street, only about a quarter of a mile northeast of WeatherCurrents' French Valley weather station, and about one mile west of the Lake Skinner dam. |
