Scattered showers from a cutoff low led to the first rainfall of the new year in Southern California's inland valleys over the weekend.
Rainfall totals varied, as always, with totals ranging from 0.0" (Simi Valley) to 0.42" (De Luz).
Some rainfall started on Sunday morning, but the bulk of it fell overnight Sunday and on into Monday morning.
Other significant totals were in French Valley (0.34"), Fallbrook (0.28"), Temecula Valley Wine Country (0.21") and East Murrieta (0.20").
In the south, Temecula received 0.18", Hemet 0.15", Lake Elsinore 0.13", Menifee 0.11" and Murrieta 0.10".
To the north, rainfall was more sporadic. Riverside and Jurupa Valley got 0.06", Moreno Valley 0.05", Beaumont 0.04" and San Bernardino 0.02".
The rest of the work week was expected to be dry, but a series of storms are lined up to bring moderate to heavy rainfall next weekend.
