A low pressure trough brought scattered showers to parts of the region on Monday, along with cold, gusty offshore winds, resulting in particularly cold nights.

Nine of the currently online fifteen WeatherCurrents stations recorded measurable precipitation. Rain amounts varied widely among locations that did receive rainfall, although generally remaining under a third of an inch. Hemet and San Jacinto benefited from higher totals, 0.30 and 0.24 inches respectively, compared to other inland locations. An impressive total of 0.43 inches was reported in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington). Parts of the Temecula Valley, Anza to the east, and the typically wet communities of De Luz and Fallbrook also recorded rainfall. Snow levels remained above 4,000 feet above sea level.

In the aftermath of the trough passing through the region, a cold, dry airmass has been left in its wake. This is resulting in freezing conditions in much of the Inland Empire, mountains and deserts overnight. Strong northeast winds have developed, mostly affecting foothills, mountains, canyons, and mountain passes. Winds are expected to decrease Wednesday. There is a chance of rain over the weekend.
