Hemet Again Gets Pounded By Thunderstorms; Flash Flood Watch Posted Sunday Until 8pm

Two weeks after remnants of Hurricane Emily caused problems in the Hemet area, thunderstorms from monsoonal moisture again doused the area, leaving another 1.31" of rainfall Saturday and knocking out power to some area for a time Saturday evening. Most of the rest of western Riverside and northern San Diego counties did not record any measurable rainfall from the Thunderstorms. Thunderstorms remain a threat Sunday and Monday. Most activity remains east of the mountains over the deserts, but a thundercloud or two may drift west. A flash flood watch has been posted by the National Weather Service until 8pm Sunday for the Inland Empire region. There is also a chance of thunderstorms in northern San Diego County Sunday, but no flash flood watch was in effect for the area. |
