A weak upper level low, positioned southwest of Point Conception, reeled in mid-level moisture over Southern California on Wednesday - producing scattered thunderstorms in some areas.

Sporadic thunderstorms began spawning over the mountains and inland valleys after midnight Wednesday, with a notable thunderstorm appearing near Perris at approximately 2 AM. Thunderstorm activity remained mostly confined to the mountains and deserts Wednesday until that afternoon, as shower activity became more widespread and even affected coastal areas. Increasingly cloudy skies over the region Wednesday afternoon brought some relief from hot temperatures experienced earlier that day. Thunderstorm activity peaked inland Wednesday evening, during which a number of inland communities recorded rainfall. Six WeatherCurrents stations received measurable precipitation Wednesday, of which Anza recorded the highest total with 0.21 inches. Pinon Hills followed closely behind with 0.18 inches. WeatherCurrents' stations in Lake Elsinore, East Hemet, San Jacinto and Moreno Valley also recorded measurable rainfall. Thunderstorms cleared out of the region overnight. Cumulus was forming over the mountains again Thursday afternoon, however moisture was far more limited and produced little impact.
