A wind-driven low pressure system brought scattered showers, cold temperatures and strong winds to much of the region Monday.
The low pressure system ended a long heat spell that had been in place since the middle of the month. Cold, blustery winds caused many downed trees, telephone poles, and structure damage in affected areas all across Southern California. Showers arrived later Monday evening. Not all communities received measurable rainfall, however among the locations that did, precipitation totals were mostly under 1/4 of an inch. In east Highland, 0.18 inches was reported (courtesy of Peter Michas). In east San Jacinto, 0.10 inches was reported (courtesy of Monty Parrott). WeatherCurrents' station in San Bernardino reported a false rain total, attributed to high wind gusts that have been known to affect the equipment at the station there.
Cool, windy weather continued into Tuesday, with a minor warm-up lasting only a couple of days until an inside slider arrived later in the week.
