Remnants of Tropical Storm Paine combined with low pressure off Southern California's coastline created conditions for rainfall across parts of the region this week.
Not a lot of thunder and lightning were reported, however rainfall was mostly under 1/3 of an inch at many WeatherCurrents stations. Anza, Hemet, and Temecula Valley Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington) - all to the east - were highly favored with storm totals coming in at 1.45 inches, 0.71 inches and 0.66 inches respectively. On the other side of the spectrum, WeatherCurrents stations in Riverside's Presidential Park, and San Bernardino did not record any measurable rainfall. WeatherCurrents' outlying stations in Simi Valley and Pinon Hills also did not record any measurable rainfall. WeatherCurrents contributor Monty Parrott reported 0.26 inches in East San Jacinto.
The recent tropical moisture followed a relatively quiet and monsoon-free summer in the region. The rain boosted several WeatherCurrents stations' season totals to above normal for the time of year.
