A low pressure system sitting off the coast rotated subtropical moisture through the region the latter half of the week, leading to periods of clouds, thunderstorms, thunder and lightning, and scattered showers.
All inland communities recorded rainfall on Thursday from thunderstorm activity, but the showers were more selective on
Friday, targeting mostly the eastern valleys.
Lightning and thunder were everywhere on Thursday. Monty Parrot in San Jacinto reported a brief power outage that was lightning related, and broken tree limbs and a shredded American flag from Friday's activity.
Thursday's storm also briefly knocked out WeatherCurrents' San Jacinto weather station.
Menifee led the way with 0.39" over the two days, much of it from a Friday downpour.
Next up were Hemet and East San Jacinto, with 0.20" over the two days.
Most of the inland valley communities got about a tenth of an inch or so of rainfall, including Wildomar (0.15"), San Jacinto and Murrieta (0.11"), De Luz, Fallbrook, Perris and Riverside (0.10"), Moreno Valley (0.09"), and the Temecula Valley Wine Country (0.08").
Receiving the least rain were Temecula (0.07"), French Valley (0.05"), and Lake Elsinore (0.02").
Thunderstorms were still expected to be a slight threat through Saturday evening, as clouds continue to be funneled through.
