As a very strong, long, moisture-laden storm continued to pound the inland valleys Monday, street flooding was evident in most communities.
The National Weather Service had a flash flood warning in effect throughout much of Southern California as four day rain totals were widely variable, between 2.37" (in Menifee) and an amazing 8.10" (in De Luz) locally at WeatherCurrents stations in western Riverside and northern San Diego counties.
Rain continued to fall Tuesday morning, with most communities gaining about another half inch or more.
For most locations, Monday was the wettest day yet, with totals ranging from 1.54" (Fallbrook) to 3.12" in Moreno Valley. Other hefty totals were recorded in De Luz with 3.07", Temecula with 2.80", 2.48" in Wildomar, 2.27" in French Valley and 2.05" in Riverside. Murrieta's 3.45" included some rain from Sunday.
Sunday was also very wet, with totals ranging from 0.43" (Menifee) to 3.81" in De Luz. Lake Elsinore was close behind with 2.56".
The storm was the second in a week, and Monday marked the sixth straight day of rain.
Rain was expected to lighten somewhat later on Tuesday, then become showers by Tuesday night, decreasing through Wednesday, according to predictions by the National Weather Service. Rain forecasts had another inch and half to two inches possible by the time the storm finally clears.
WeatherCurrents' Murrieta and Moreno Valley weather stations had rain gauge clogs during the storm and their totals have been corrected.
