A Pacific low pressure system brought widespread rain and windy conditions to the region Tuesday and Wednesday morning, resulting in a healthy start to the 2025-2026 rainy season this month.

The low pressure system responsible for this week's rains is situated further north, and is currently moving into the Great Basin. Precipitation totals were modest, with heavier amounts generally to the north. WeatherCurrents' station in Simi Valley recorded the highest total, with an impressive 1.34 inches observed there. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, a total of 0.98 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington). Pinon Hills, normally one of the drier locations in the WeatherCurrents network - received a modest 0.92 inches. Northwest Murrieta also recorded 0.90 inches. The majority of active WeatherCurrents stations recorded rain totals between 0.3 and 0.7 inches, mostly within predictions. In Riverside (Canyon Crest), a total of 0.54 inches was recorded (courtesy of Jim Ness). Anza recorded the lowest total from this storm, with 0.23 inches. French Valley's total of 0.21 inches is believed to be inaccurate, mostly likely due to a clogged rain gauge. Rain totals from nearby Wunderground stations indicate the true total for French Valley being somewhere between 0.4 and 0.5 inches.

Warmer, drier weather is forecast going into the weekend as high pressure builds. A low pressure system approaching Southern California off the coast is forecast to bring cooler weather during the first half of next week.
