Unprecedented heat finally coming to an end

By Jim Purpura. Posted October 1, 2012, 4:35 PM.

Be patient...cooler weather is coming!

What may be the last big heat wave of the warm season is forecast to be ending after mid week. High temperatures today are running 100 degrees or above in all WeatherCurrents sites except Anza, Beaumont, City Heights, and Simi Valley. Topping the list are Lake Elsinore, Menifee, and Wildomar at 107 degrees.

Tuesday look for temperatures to fall a bit, but only 3 or 4 degrees. Wednesday temperatures fall another 10 degrees, and the cooling trend will begin in earnest.

The high pressure that has been responsible is being pushed down into the Baja and replaced by an approaching low pressure system. The system will eventually bring temperatures down to as much as 10 degrees below normal by Columbus Day (Monday, October 12). Look for late night / morning fog and low clouds to return to many locations as early as Thursday night. There may be some light rain as well, probably late this weekend or early next week.
