Christmas Eve Toasty; Cooler Weather for Christmas Day

Posted December 25, 2005, 10:15 AM.

Temperatures in Western Riverside and northern San Diego counties set recent records on Saturday as high pressure led to a warm Christmas Eve, the warmest of the week and of the the month.

For WeatherCurrents stations, Temecula's 85.4°F was a recent record for the date, exceeding 81.5°F recorded back in 1999. Records prior to 1999 are not available for Temecula, which has the longest history of any WeatherCurrents site. Eastern Hemet recorded the warmest temperature Saturday at 88.2°F. Murrieta and Fallbrook were the coolest at 83.0°F and 83.4°F, respectively.

Christmas Day temperatures are expected to much more moderate, as partly cloudy weather and onshore flow settles in. A storm mostly to the north of Southern California is expected to begin affecting the region tonight, with a chance of showers predicted for Monday.
