Record heat possible Wednesday inland

Even as high pressure begins to weaken today, temperatures were set to reach well into the 90's in what would be the hottest day in a few weeks.

According to the National Weather Service, "Temperatures will approach record levels in many places, with the hottest areas just inland from the coast."

Predicted highs for today ranged from 95°F in De Luz and Fallbrook to 98°F in Moreno Valley and Hemet.

Elsewhere in Southern California, 88°F was predicted in San Diego, 96°F in Anaheim and in Rancho Bernardo, 97°F in Ontario and in Palm Springs.

WeatherCurrents records for the day were 95°F in Menifee, 94°F in Hemet, 92°F in Temecula, 91°F in Murrieta and 89°F in Fallbrook.

Following today, the hot temperatures were expected to slide about twenty degrees into the coming weekend.
