Unseasonable heat to back off next week

By Reginald Stanley. Posted October 30, 2025, 2:06 AM.

A strong ridge of high pressure over Arizona has brought offshore flow and unseasonably hot temperatures to the region in recent days.

Summer-like temperatures were felt across the coasts and inland areas Tuesday and Wednesday, with a Heat Advisory being issued to these areas by the National Weather Service amid a hot episode of offshore flow this week. WeatherCurrents' station in Lake Elsinore observed a high temperature of 101 degrees on Wednesday afternoon, setting a record high for the date there. Other WeatherCurrents stations similarly recorded widespread high temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s Tuesday and Wednesday. A brief weakening of high pressure will allow for slight relief from the heat Thursday and Friday, along with onshore flow and a deepening marine layer. High pressure is forecast to rebuild over the region for the weekend, bringing warmer temperatures once again - although not quite as hot as seen in recent days. An amplified low pressure trough may bring more pronounced cooling to the region next week, beginning around Tuesday, although how far south the trough travels and timing remain uncertain.
